This course will provide an introduction to astronomy, meteorology (weather), and geology.
Format
Readings: Each week the student will be assigned reading from the text. Following the reading the student is the check their comprehension of the material by answering questions at the end of chapter and verifying their answers with the back of the book.
Homework: Each week the student the student will complete a homework assignment provided on the course website. The assignment will include multiple choice and short answer questions. The student may also be directed to further exploration of the topic on the web. Answers to homework questions are submitted on the course website and will be graded in a timely manner to ensure the student does not get behind.
Labs: Each week the student will be assigned a lab to complete at home. Depending on how long it takes to obtain the necessary data, due dates on the individual labs will vary. Some of the more involved labs will be performed at the group meetings to help the student obtain the data more easily.
Exams: At the completion of each chapter, there will be an exam. These will be provided on the course website. They will be multiple-choice and short answer. The exams are open-book.

Introduction to Physical Science by Shipman, Wilson, and Todd 11th edition
This is a college level text and we will be covering the second half of the book in this course. We are using the older edition to lower the cost of purchasing the text. The same text is used for Physical Science.
